This video is the home run that should be seen around the world. No. It is not some pro baseball player who hit the winning home run in the World Series. This home run did not make one player a champion or one team a champion. This home run made everyone a champion on an April day in America's Washington state. It is a lesson for athletes young and old. It is a lesson for all of us.
The West Virginia Supreme Court Justice featured in this story, Spike Maynard, is now running for congress in 2010. That way he can be the representative from Massey Energy Corporation, the bought off stooge for Don Blakenship in Washington, posing as someone representing West Virginia. Ol'Spike has also invited Sarah Palin to visit a southern West Virginia coal mine to see, and I quote,"We would love to have Sarah showcase modern mining as a clean, safe and cheap way to produce energy...."
Yeah, Spike could take her to the Upper Big Branch mine. Oh wait, maybe NOT! Perhaps Palin could visit the grieving family of Benny Willingham instead. Then she could get a dose of reality, humanity and humility.
R.I.P. Benny and all the brave miners who died. God Bless, West Virginia.
I am not a Catholic, but I am a Christian and I deeply respect this tradition in Cincinnati. It is one of the special moments every year which help to define this city.
The Gentleman Agitator does not like America's two ruling political parties. I am an independent and proud of it! I am not a teapartier! They are NOT independents! They are conservative fanatics who have warped an event in American history for their own delusional devices. This CNN report about independent voter, Mike Lewis in Kentucky, shows how the two major parties try to manipulate independents to gain political leverage, not out of some honorable sense of fairness. The Democrat thinks the two party system is just the American way and we independents can leave the country if we do not like it. Oh, he would let us have other parties, but I doubt he would allow ballot access for other candidates. The Republicans on the other hand are quite willing to let independents vote in primaries since there are more Democrats in Kentucky than Republicans, thus hoping to create weaker Democratic candidates in a general election. Hey! Instead of letting us vote in your primaries, how about open elections instead where anyone can run? Gasp! The old coot in the CNN report would probably get apoplectic over that. He is a good example of why I am not a Democrat. Though there are plenty of Republicans who would join him in defending the two party monopoly to the bitter end. Keep it up Mike Lewis!
